How is it made?

Your pet’s orthosis or prosthesis starts with a fiberglass impression of the affected limb, then computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) are utilized in our state-of-the-art manufacturing center to create the custom device.

What can I expect?

  1. Your veterinarian makes a diagnosis and submits a referral to Pawsthetics.

  2. Your pet is evaluated by Pawsthetics at your veterinarian’s clinic or hospital.

  3. Your pet’s affected limb is casted by Pawsthetics to create a fiberglass impression.

  4. The impression is turned into a digital 3D model with computer-aided design (CAD) via the Luma Scanner.

  5. The file is sent digitally to OrthoPets, then OrthoPets optimizes the device design through a digitized process.

  6. A physical 3D model of your pet’s limb is created at Friddles Orthopedic Appliance with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).

  7. The carved model is vacuum formed with advanced plastics to create the custom orthosis or prosthesis.

  8. Once the soft medical grade foam liner, adjustable and replaceable straps and pads are added, the device is shipped.

  9. Fitting and delivery is scheduled at your veterinarian’s clinic or hospital.

  10. Your pet’s incremental wear schedule, expectations for follow-up and future provisions for adjustments will be outlined.

  11. You will have access to communicate with Pawsthetics via the Digitail Pet Parent application for your phone.
